Moonrise with Lanterns in the Cherry Trees - Monday Gaming Recap

I finally made it back to the Atomic Empire after a while and was able to get in some small but fun games. When we got there, the others were already occupied setting up a learning game of Parfum, so Kit & I settled down with Sky Tango. After a two-player game, we were joined by Graham for a three-player round. We love this game that I picked up at Origins, and the third player definitely shifts strategies slightly. I lost both games, but continue to love this gem from Johann Rüttinger & Jacques Zelmet.

Next we pulled out Lanterns which I've been carrying around but hadn't actually played. It was super easy for me to teach the others despite that fact, and I really enjoyed the spacial manipulation to help yourself while trying to limit how much you're helping your opponents at the same time. Graham won, with me coming second & I'm looking forward to trying it at different player counts.

Daniel was wanting to playtest a modified version of his hit Kigi. We played five-player which was fun but seemed like one too many players for the size of the deck. The new rules are interesting with the game being played over four seasons, each followed by a chance to score a commission. I don't know how much it will continue to change (& what theme it'll end up with) but it was a nice twist on a game I continue to enjoy. We then finished off the night with another round of Sky Tango before heading off to dinner.

Games Played: Sky Tango, Lanterns, and a modified Kigi prototype
New to Me Games: Lanterns, modified Kigi
